How we compare electric toothbrushes

A ranking you cannot audit is an ad. This page is the audit.

What gets printed

Every pair page carries the same fields, because those are the questions people ask out loud: motion and movements, modes, pressure sensor, timer and quadrant pacer, app, handle display, battery days and charge hours, waterproofing, travel case, noise, ADA Seal, head compatibility, head price, three-year cash, weight, warranty, floss or jet, camera, subscription lock-in, braces, sensitive gums, and the known failure notes.

If a brand did not publish a figure, the cell says n/a. We do not average a forum guess into a spec.

Researched, not tested

No brush on this site is labeled tested. Oleg Galeev has not run a timed plaque index, a gum-recession photo series, or a decibel meter on these handles. First person would be a lie, so the voice stays in the specs. Sources sit in the research file: manufacturer pages, the ADA toothbrush topic, and named 2026 reviews. A brand claim, including Dyson's 69 percent plaque line, is printed as a brand claim.

What a buy call is

The site pick for most people is the Oral-B iO Series 3. The sonic pick is the Philips Sonicare 4100. Those are editorial calls about features per dollar, a visible pressure ring, and head math. They are not a secret clinical ranking. A pair page can hand the win to the other brush when the question is battery, gums, travel, or a jet.

Affiliate links are not connected. When they are, they will not move a rank. The disclosure page says the same thing in plainer words.

Weights we would use on a real bench

FactorWeight
Plaque removal on a repeated cook, same paste, same time20%
Gum safety: pressure behavior, soft mode, reported abrasion15%
Head feel and reach, including braces10%

Replacement head cost and compatibility15%
Noise and handle weight10%
Timer, sensor, app that people actually use10%
Build and warranty terms you can enforce5%

Those weights are the plan. They are not scores. No page on this site prints a 9.2 we did not measure.
